OUR STORY
Co-owners Vernon and Denise Thorne founded InStyle Caterers, formerly known as Calypso Jazz International Cuisine Caterers in 1990. Denise is a banker turned stay at home mom turned caterer with no prior hospitality experience but a passion for good food and service. Through hard work, commitment, extensive research, education and a penchant for looking and learning; InStyle Caterers has become an organization with a reputation known for integrity, excellent food and outstanding service. Denise who served her internship with Head Chef Chris at the prestigious Andrews Air Force Base Officers’ Club in 1994 has amassed over 31 years of event experience and has built relationships with event professionals worldwide.
The cuisine of InStyle Caterers has always had a world cuisine or global fusion approach due to Denise and Vernon cultural heritage, coupled with our extensive travel and experience from working and collaborating with many embassies and their chefs or cooks for events for years.
Today, the company continues to offer its many services including corporate executive functions, drop offs, full-service events, galas, fundraisers, weddings, bar/ bat mitzvahs and much more at various venues throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan Area.
